Life is like a roller coaster ride

This week has been so emotion filled for me that I hope I will be able to explain to you guys as much as possible.

Monday was a tourist day for us. haha we had subway and bought fun souvineers.
TUesday we taught Evaneta and she said she didnt come to church because she was told she was now trying to walk down to paths and she had to choose which was right. Which is true, and hopefully she truly tries to find the right path.

Wednesday was zone training there are 7 america elders in my zone so that was fun! It was so weird to hear english!! So relieving but so weird! We got training from a broadcast in Salt Lake something they said was that “A good missionary will talk with everyone.” which believe it or not has been super hard for me because i am not very good at the language and I do struggle but i have to trust the lord. Something else that they talked about was the power of using members in missionary work and i testify that that is something that is essential.

Thursday and Friday the other sisters in my house had baptisms and I loved being there because it reminded me of my friends at home that I got to see be baptized and the strength that they have to accept a path that isnt easy but that is right. I look up to them so much and I love them so much!

Friday was eventful….
We came home after lunch and there were two vultures sitting in our OPEN window! Sister Belo and Sister Wright were in the other room trying to get them to fly away but we were locked in the bedroom trying to get them gone from the other room…. eventually they flew away but two vultures…. then we were walking to a lesson and there was this homeless drunk man walking in front of us trying to impress us and we got to the end of the road and he went one way and we went the other and as we were turning I saw him stumble into the road and the next things that happened, I heard a noise I will never be able to erase from my memory, I turned to see this man flying down the road, landing and rolling. He was hit by a truck and he died, it was so hard, and is still so hard.

Saturday we taught miguel and it went so well! We taught the Plan of Salvation and he taught it back to us and he understood it completely! He is so great!

Sunday we had 1 investigator and 2 less actives at church! Our investigator is progressing so well and our two less actives are amazing! Ygor (pronounced Igor) is a seventeen year old boy, the happiest person I have ever met! He said he will help me with my portuguese and i will help him with his english!

This week I learned that there is completely a Father in Heaven who knows us, loves us, and stands ready to help us as we turn to Him. He will not let us down. Life is hard, sometimes it sucks but how wonderful it is to know we have a Savior that stands ready to wrap us in His arms when it is hard, when we feel like giving up, when we are lonely. I love you all!!

I believe in miracles (Jan 18)

Well this week has been so wonderful!
Monday, I am sorry about the bad email last week, I struggled with everything on pday and emails and computers are included! But we got real beds, and desk and a fan and chairs on monday! We still are on the air mattresses because we are not allowed to set anything up so we have to wait for people to come set them up!

Tuesday: I gave my first message for lunch and i feel like it was really good! A little boy that was there loved Peppa Piggy that is attached to my bag (thank you Robert) and Sister Wright was playing with the pig with the little boy and she goes “Meow!” We died laughing! But later that day we went to visit less actives and as always no ones was home. We started knocking on doors, no success. We walked all the way down the road and started talking to a son and mom and guess what we had a lesson with them! There were four people there! We now have four investigators.

Wednesday: We went to a sweet families house for lunch and we got a reference there. Then we went to visit two people and we had no success, Then we went to visit some less actives. So we ring the buzzer and down the stairs comes a super excited 17 year old young man. He was so excited to see us. So we are working with their family. I love them so much!

Thursday: We had a lesson with Evaneta ( the lady from tuesday) she has a hard time understanding but she´ll get there.

Saturday: We had a lesson with a new investigator named Miguel! I love him! he understood it so well! His whole family are members except him and his brother in law and I really think he knows it is true.

Sunday: we went with the bishop to meet his friend alex and we will begin teaching him tomorrow!

|this week we have gotten 8 (9 tonight) investigators! LAst week we had zero. walking 100 miles in 14 days was worth it to help a few of Heavenly Fathers children! Heavenly Father is still a God of miracles if we work hard, have patience, and have faith in him!

Today marks my 2 months of being out! Holy cow! Next week I hope I can send you pictures! I am sorry that they havent been working! I will figure it out eventually! I have camera issues. But I love you all and hope you all have a great week!

Let the rain fall down.

welp, this week it rained… a lot.
So I will start off with food, there is some amazing food here. I love it!
So one of the days this week, we took a 30 minute bus ride to an area for a lesson and she wasn’t home, we also walked about 8 miles and no one wanted to hear what we had to say I got a really bad sunburn, we were then walking to the church and we ran into this guy who has been looking for missionaries for a long time so everything fell into place so this man can hear what he needed.
Lets see, I got sick this week, so after district meeting we walked home and rested. About 2 hours later I couldnt handle it anymore so we went back out and were looking for people and we felt like we needed to go visit a less active, her name is judy, we stopped by and she was there (THIS NEVER HAPPENS) and she wanted to talk to us (this again never happens) and we were able to have a lessn with her it was amazing! Heavenly Father really puts us where we need to be so His children can have the happiness they are wanting.
Saturday everything we had planned and scheduled fell through, but we were walking and we ran into a kid who just moved here and he had been looking for the church and we were able to help him and he was at church on sunday so yay!
I just want to share a little from a conference talk by President Thomas S. Monson called Keep the Commandments. “I share with you a portion of this sister’s testimony ofthe healing power of repentance: “How does someonego from being one of the lost sheep and gripped by[sin], to this peace and happiness we now feel? Howdoes that happen? The answer … is because of aperfect gospel, a perfect Son and His sacrifice for me. …Where there was darkness, there is now light. Wherethere was despair and pain, there is joy and hope. Wehave been infinitely blessed by the change that canonly come through repentance made possible by theAtonement of Jesus Christ.”

Our Savior died to provide you and me that blessedgift. Despite the fact that the path is difficult, thepromise is real. Said the Lord to those who repent:
“Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as whiteas snow.”9
“And I will remember [them] no more.”10

I love this because it is true. Nothing is better than the redempting and reedeeming feeling that comes from the Atonement. I love this gospel and I am grateful for it. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer.

I think I have to send pictures next week. My computer isnt working right.

Viva em campo!

Well this first week has been interesting, due to the fact that here New Years is huge. We tought it was big in America… You have know idea…

So my first day we had lunch with a member and that was almost all we did…  Then new years eve we weren’t allowed to be out much so we went to the grociery store and then had a sister missionary party! Our mission president allowed us to stay up till one and then sleep in the next day. But New Years Eve, the power in the city we live in went out. I am going to send a picture of my city and the city next to mine with the power out and the others on.
On New Years we went to lunch with some members and at this members house all are members except two. One is being taught by other sisters in our house and the other Sister Wilkins and I set an appointment with. We havent had a ton of lessons, or any because Sister Wilkins and I were whitewashed in the area (We were thrown into the area without having been here before and we are also opening an area, so we  have a lot of finding to do. But we do however have wonderful members and the one lesson set up. Miguel (is who we will be teaching) is super excited because his whole family are members of the church and he as never had lessons from the missionaries before. He is wonderful and I already love him.
This is my address in case anyone wanted it. If you send things through USPS there hasnt been problems.
So here lunch is a big thing. We get 2 hours or so for lunch and it is a huge meal! I haven’t had anything bad to eat here. Actually I love what I have had. They make homemade icecream and cake. We have rice and beans every meal which is okay, I love them! I really really do. They make lasguana different here but holy hannah it is good!
my area is very touristy. It is said to be the surfing capital of the world. So that is cool!
I am struggling with the language… haha but hey that is what hard work and lots of prayers and patience is for right?
Well I love you all. I love this area. I love these people. And I love my Savior. I love the strength I was able to recieve during sacrament on sunday. Sacrament literally refills your energies and gives you the capasity to be more, feel more, and love more. I am so grateful for sacrament.
ps my pdays are Mondays.
